    In cooperation with Naples Zoo and Dr. Julian Fennessy of the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, Collier County Public Schools participated in a live three-way broadcast interactively connecting local second graders to giraffes and keepers in the Zoo and with Dr. Fennessy in Windhoek, Namibia, Africa.

    This week on District Digest, we learn the best ways to keep learning alive during the summer break. Plus, we'll learn about the District's summer food program. And finally, we'll share some important summer safety tips for our students, parents, and the community.

    This week a very special Employee of the Year edition of District Digest where you'll get the chance to meet the Districts Teachers of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year. First, we talk with the Elementary Teacher of the Year Ashley Turner and then Middle School Teacher of the Year Morgan Summa. High School Teacher of the Year Pat Metcalf and Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year Bob Jackson stop by. And finally, youll meet our School-Related Employee of the Year Jim Bourland.

    This week a very special Golden Apple edition of District Digest you'll get the chance to meet the Golden Apple class of 2015. We will visit first with Susan Alger-DeCaster of Laurel Oak Elementary School. And then spend some time with Ed Laudise of Lorenzo Walker Technical High School as well as Lacey Rosenblum of Naples High School. You'll also hear from Tamzon Reed-Hamilton of Immokalee High School and Stephanie Scott from Lorenzo Walker Technical High School.

    This week on District Digest, Kindergarten round-up is officially underway. We’ll talk to one principal about what to expect and why these events are so important to attend. Plus, we’ll learn about an upcoming event aimed at honoring middle schoolers who have made significant achievements. Then, we’ll showcase the winners of the Collier County JROTC Drill Meet. And finally, we will highlight our great partnership with the Collier County Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
