    District Digest

    DD March 23

    MARCH 23, 2015

    This week on District Digest, Kindergarten round-up is officially underway. We’ll talk to one principal about what to expect and why these events are so important to attend. Plus, we’ll learn about an upcoming event aimed at honoring middle schoolers who have made significant achievements. Then, we’ll showcase the winners of the Collier County JROTC Drill Meet. And finally, we will highlight our great partnership with the Collier County Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

    This week on District Digest we’ll learn how the district is preparing in the event the measles outbreak reaches our schools. Then we’ll talk about the district’s efforts to recruit new teachers. And finally, we’ll highlight the many academic events taking place this semester.

    This week on District Digest we'll preview the big Spelling Bee coming up in March. Plus, if you love cars, planes or food…one of our schools is putting on an event you won't want to miss. Then we head out to Immokalee to meet a truly inspiring student. And finally, we visit with the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County and find out about a special celebration they have coming up.



     JANUARY 28, 2015

    On this edition of District Digest we’ll talk with our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kamela Patton, in a double segment about several hot topics. Then we’ll learn about the upcoming Virtual Town Hall Meeting that will address college and career readiness. And finally, we visit with Champions For Learning and find out about their new College and Career program.


    JANUARY 12, 2015

    On this edition of District Digest we’ll learn about Literacy week in Florida and what’s planned here in Collier County Public Schools. Then we’ll get details about Super Science Saturday – the who, what, where, when, and why. We’ll meet with one of our middle school teachers, recently named State Teacher of the Year for Family & Consumer Sciences. And finally, we’ll learn more about a special partnership between the Immokalee Technical Center and a local agency to help teach English.

    The 19th Annual Laws of Life Awards Banquet was held on February 19, 2015 at the Hilton Naples, where 16 finalists were honored and the winners were announced. The first place winner in each category delivered their speech to a distinguished gathering that included city and county officials, school district administrators, principals, teachers, and family members.
